Madeira Atlantic Festival
Festivals
Madeira is well known for its dramatic cliffs “falling” into the ocean, for its lush and colorful vegetation and for its black sand beaches. However, Madeira is also synonym with Festivals. So, we just experienced Carnival and the Flower Festival, and around the corner arrives the Atlantic Festival.
Atlantic Festival
Certainly, this festival kicks off the Summer season on this remote and subtropical fleck of land in the Atlantic. Hence, the Atlantic Festival takes place every Saturday evening of the month of June.
Music and Fireworks
The pier of Pontinha, in Funchal, is the stage of the musical pyrotechnical extravaganza. The four contestants illuminate the sky of Funchal to the rhythm of music, one per Saturday. Each musically synchronized firework lasts for about 20 minutes. You can admire the show from the pier and the ocean promenade. If you do not like crowds or if you like to sit comfortably while laying an arm around your loved one, why not watch the fireworks from the ocean on a catamaran for example? Furthermore, most dolphin watching excursion companies offer trips to view the pyromusical shows.

Above all, the winner of this competition will be allowed to orchestrate the famous New Year’s pyrotechnical show. For that reason, you can vote on the net, at the tourism office in Funchal or in the two shopping centers: La Vie and Marina Shopping.
Three-day Atlantic Roots Festival – Raizes do Atlantico
